Cashew nuts shell liquid – CNSL
Application of cashew nut shell oil (CNSL) as fuel
Cashew nut shell oil (CNSL) is a product extracted from cashew shell by-products used as fuel to replace FO oil. When burned, they emit a heat equivalent to FO oil (> 9,500 Kcal/kg), fully compatible with FO oil burning systems while the price is 60-70% of FO oil. This is an advantage for businesses to convert to burning cashew shell oil instead of FO oil at a lower cost on the same equipment. Practical application of cashew oil as industrial fuel in factories producing silicate, cramite bricks, aluminum smelting, industrial boilers and clinker.
Application of Cardanol
Cardanol is the basic ingredient in CNSL as it is one of the most important and promising ingredients. Once separated, it can be used in many different industries as fine chemicals. In this area, costs and prices are exorbitant. This includes the production of plastic additives, surfactants, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, resins and others.
In the chemistry of phenolic compounds, double bonds play an important role, responsible for large chemical and physicochemical properties.
One of the big advantages in developing the new material is that Cardanol does not have a strong odor and can be used on an industrial scale without cross-pollution. Also has a lower volatility and higher boiling point than other phenolic compounds derived from petroleum. This point is important because many oil products are harmful to human health and the environment.
The cardanol oil produced from cashew shell liquid is truly a game-changer. It has helped our mechanical industry with anti-corrosion coatings and our shipping industry with high-quality anti-rust paint.
